The CSD student helpers have made a significant contribution to the department by translating a collection of APSS Social Work subject videos into English. By adding English subtitles, these students have helped make critical teaching and learning (T&L) materials more accessible to a broader audience. So far, they have successfully translated 30 videos, a remarkable achievement that is set to benefit many future students.
The translation of these Social Work subject videos plays a vital role in ensuring that students from diverse language backgrounds can fully engage with the content. Social work education often involves complex terminology, case studies, and real-world scenarios that need to be understood clearly to be effective. The addition of English subtitles ensures that students who are not proficient in Cantonese can access the same educational material as their peers. This also benefits international students and those pursuing global social work practices, allowing them to better understand the coursework and apply it in their academic and professional development.
The department is deeply grateful to the student helpers for their dedication and hard work. Their contribution will continue to benefit countless students, opening up new possibilities for learning and understanding in social work education.
