On July 25th, 2024, the CSD Project Team welcomed a delegation from the China and Global Development Network to our immersive environment studio. The visit was organized to explore the potential of virtual reality (VR) in enhancing learning and teaching experiences, with a focus on future collaboration.
Prof. Robert J. Chaskin, Faculty Director of the Kiphart Center for Global Health and Social Development at the University of Chicago, engaged in discussions about integrating VR technology into the Winter Institute 2024. This program will bring together students from the University of Chicago, Peking University, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University to conduct comparative studies on global housing issues.
During the visit, the CAVE Project Team demonstrated how our immersive VR environment could support students and researchers in virtually exploring urban housing challenges, offering a unique, interactive learning experience before on-site fieldwork.
We are excited about the potential collaboration on the Winter Institute and look forward to further conversations on how VR can be leveraged to enhance education and research in global development.
