On June 7th, 2023, Dr. Xue BAI and her research team visited the CAVE to explore the cutting-edge immersive technologies used in the facility. The visit provided the research team with an opportunity to experience how these innovative tools are being integrated into the academic and research environment, with a particular focus on Virtual Reality (VR) technology.
In addition to exploring the CAVE, the research team also used Oculus VR headsets to view 360° immersive videos produced by students in the previous semester. These videos were created as part of the students’ coursework, showcasing their application of immersive technology in documenting and analyzing sociological and cultural phenomena.
By experiencing the CAVE and using Oculus VR headsets to view student-produced videos, the team gained a deeper understanding of how these technologies can be leveraged to enhance both research methodologies and the student learning experience.
